Modern Problems require modern solutions
DPF Faults
At the turn of the Century Diesel Particulate Filters were introduced to combat the soot particles that diesels produce from the combustion cycle, and with their introduction came problems. We regularly repair DPF faults, and most of the time the fault doesn’t lie with the DPF itself. Here at NFC we have a lot of experience and training on diagnosing the route cause of DPF Regeneration failures and we have a high success rate at fixing the fault without having to replace the DPF which can be a very high cost.
Many cars have had DPF removals because the fault was incorrectly diagnosed, this is however an illegal modification to the car and will result in an MOT failure and possibly Voiding your Insurance.
Wet Belts
Another recent introduction to modern engines is the ‘wet’ timing belt, this is a cam belt that is run inside the engine and is called ‘wet’ because of the fact it runs in oil. We see many failures from these engines, wether it be debris in the oil blocking the oil pick causing pressure faults to complete engine failures. When we replace these belts we use the latest specification belt from the manufacturer to ensure the longevity of the belt and clean the engine internals to prevent future faults.
AdBlue Faults
With the introduction of Euro 6 to passanger and light goods vehicles with Diesel engines, an AdBlue system was fitted and is designed to reduce if not eliminate Nox emissions from the exhaust. We see many faults from the AdBlue system, from AdBlue Injectors, Nox sensors and even AdBlue Tanks which can be costly. However with our experience and knowledge we can get to the route cause of the faults to not only save you time but also save you money by diagnosing the problem correctly the first time.
It is also illegal to remove this from the car known as an AdBlue delete which may void your insurance, so don’t be tempted.

Hello, I’m Nick and the founder of NFC Autocare over 30 years ago where i started on the forecourt of my other business and moved on to be one of the first vehicle repair garages in Thornton-Cleveleys. I started out specialising in Citroen BX’s as one of the few that had the knowledge and experience to repair them. Nowadays I’ve taken more of a backseat and taking on the smaller jobs and leaving the hard work to my son.
